Flow Like the Jungle: Qi Gong and the Healing Pranas of Belize

Updated: Nov 24

The morning sun filtered softly through the jungle canopy at Ananda's Guest House as we gathered under the guidance of Kerri Starr from Celestium Temple. The jungle seemed alive, breathing in sync with us as we began our Qi Gong meditation. This ancient practice, rooted in the philosophy of energy flow, felt deeply connected to the lush environment around us.

Kerri introduced us to the concept of the three pranas (life energies that govern our bodies) and the focus of our Fall Retreat in Belieze (Release and Renew). Each prana connects to specific organs—the kidneys, which process life’s physical and emotional waters; the spleen, which governs the digestion of thoughts and experiences; and the lymphatic system, the body’s essential detoxifier. This is in perfect synchronicity with the Fall Lymphatic release treatment and you should try it too!We were guided through gentle tapping on key lymphatic points—along the clavicle, abdomen, and thighs—each movement facilitating the release of toxins and emotions stored deep within.

As the rhythmic tapping continued, I could feel the tension melting away, replaced by a serene clarity. The physical movements complemented a psychological release, reminding us that our health is deeply intertwined with our emotional state.

Kerri’s teachings couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. Fall, with its natural rhythms of shedding and letting go, aligns beautifully with the practice of lymphatic release. Just as the trees release their leaves, we too were called to release what no longer served us—physically, emotionally, and energetically. The "Release and Renew in Belize" retreat centered on this theme, and the jungle setting provided a nurturing backdrop for this transformation. Through each tap and movement, we not only encouraged the flow of stagnant lymph but also symbolically released the weight of past experiences, creating space for renewal and growth. This practice felt deeply attuned to the season and the retreat’s purpose, leaving us invigorated and aligned with the cycles of nature.

In this eco-tourism retreat setting, practices like Qi Gong highlight sustainability not only in our external environment but also within our own bodies. Just as the jungle thrives in balance, so too can we, when we prioritize mindful living and self-care. This experience was attainable and profoundly transformative—a gentle reminder that sustainable living begins with the harmony of our inner and outer worlds.
